Reconfigured for functionality
This standard kitchen was lacking functionality for family living. We extended the island and reconfigured the pantry and fridge locations to make it more functional for day to day use. As the family didn’t really use the front living room, we moved the dining room to the front and repurposed the existing dining room area into a huge pantry and home office. New vinyl plank flooring throughout unifies these spaces providing visual continuity. The pop of blue cabinetry kept the colour palette from being too neutral. The backsplash tile was installed in a vertical herringbone pattern with a contrast grout colour, and the black lighting and hardware provide the perfect accents to complete this modern farmhouse style kitchen.
Classic and calming
When we first saw these two bathrooms, they were in need of a major update. They were stuck in the ’80’s with pot light bulkheads over the vanities, sliding glass door shower/tub and very little storage. We created a calm and subtle beachy vibe in the main bathroom with new floor tile, an updated double vanity and a huge round mirror to reflect light. We also added a touch of deep teal to the ceiling as an unexpected design element. In the ensuite, we stayed classic with a black and white palette. The old combination tub/shower was converted to a full glass walk-in shower, and a beautiful herringbone pattern for the black floor tile was carried right through into the shower. We also carved out a bit of much needed storage with a wall niche next to the vanity.
Unexpected flooring patterns
This mudroom/laundry area was dark and disorganized. We created some much needed storage, stacked the laundry to provide more space, and a seating area for this busy family. The random hexagon tile pattern on the floor was created using 3 different shades of the same tile. We really love finding ways to use standard materials in new and fun ways that heighten the design and make things look custom. We did the same with the floor tile in the front entry, creating a basket-weave/plaid look with a combination of tile colours and sizes. A geometric light fixture and some fun wall hooks finish the space.
We refreshed this outdated kitchen with a tone on tone white palette and texture. The floor was replaced with a composite luxury vinyl tile and the old oak cabinets were updated with custom cabinetry. The raised centre panel door gives the kitchen more of a traditional look, which is in keeping with the architecture and age of the home. We relocated the sink under the large window, selected a textured subway tile to reflect more light. We opted for a cost saving laminate counter that simulates the look of stone. A breakfast table in the corner, all new lighting and a roman shade on the window over the sink in a complementary grey fabric complete this monochromatic design.
